CRANBROOK, British Columbia - A Kenyan exchange student might not have heard a helicopter plunge from the sky before it struck and killed him.Police today identified the victim on the ground as Isaiah Otieno, a 20-year-old college student.Three people aboard the helicopter also died. The aircraft flew over central Cranbrook for a few minutes before plummeting, striking and dragging Otieno as it came down.The 206 centimetre-tall student was wearing headphones at the time and may not have heard the chopper tumbling toward him, tail-first, said Isaac Hockley.Mr Hockley was taking pictures of the crash for the local paper and didn't even realise for more than half an hour that his friend, Otieno, was one of the badly charred bodies lying under a tarp.The Bell 206 Jet Ranger left a trail of flames and wreckage as it skidded for several yards along a street in Cranbrook, 800 kilometres east of Vancouver.Canada's Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.Officials said the helicopter had been hired by BC Hydro, a provincial power company, and was ferrying two employees.
